IS IT RICKIE’S YEAR?

Each year, all professional golfers think that this is going to be their year and this is the time to show the world what they are made of. But at the end of the season, some tend to be happy and most of them turn disappointed at how they performed in the season. At this point of time, there are several golfers in the PGA circuit who can claim to grab the number one spot of the most overrated player on the PGA Tour.

Englishmen Lee Westwood and Luke Donald are rated high by the commentators quite rightly, even though neither of them has won a major title; though they have been close to win on many occasions. They really deserve to be called overrated at present.

But according to most, the most overrated golfer in the PGA circuit is Rickie Fowler, the American golfer who turned professional in the year 2009. He has not won any tour till now, but the twenty-three year old American golfer won the award for the rookie of the year in 2010. The sole reason why Rickie Fowler is overrated, just because he was a magnificent amateur golfer – in fact, many consider him as one of the best amateur golf players.

Between the years 2007 – 2008, Rickie Fowler was the number one ranked amateur golfer for thirty-six weeks. After that many critics coined him as a future major winner and termed as one of the next prominent American golfers.

When he was an amateur golfer, he played really well at the US Open in 2008 at Torrey Pines. Rickie was in a tie, after the 1st day, for the 7th spot and finished playing all 4 days in the event and eventually ending tied for 60th. But he failed to carry on his impressive form after that. Now all eyes will be on him this year.
