Matt Kuchar, an American professional golfer, currently plays in the PGA Tour and formerly played for the Nationwide Tour. He has seven PGA Tour wins to his name including the most prestigious The Players Championship in 2012 and The WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in 2013.
Kuchar graduated from the Seminole High School in Sanford and later attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta where he was the two time first-team All American for the Yellow Jackets golf team. He became a professional in 2000 and got his first success on the PGA Tour at Honda Classic in 2002.
Kuchar lost his tour card in 2005 after briefly enjoying a slump period and going down 159th position on the money list. He played on The Nationwide Tour in 2006 and won the Henrico County Open. He later regained his tour card for two seasons in 2008 and 2009 by finishing 115th and 70th on the money list respectively.
Matt Kuchar won his 2nd PGA Tour tournament seven years after his first win at the Turning Stone Resort Championship. He made a cut into the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2010 and took the eighth and last merit position.
Kuchar won the Vardon Trophy and was awarded the Byron Nelson Award in 2010 for lowest scoring average and the PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Award for leading the money list. His best performance in a major championship was at the Masters Tournament in 2012 where he finished tied third. His biggest tournament win was at The Players Championship in 2012 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Next year he won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship in February.
Matt Kuchar won his 7th tournament on the PGA Tour at the RBC Heritage in 2014. He has career high 5th rank in the World Rankings and has stayed inside the top 10 for more than 40weeks.
